[GROSS] The Pork Chop Horror That Helped Me With My Comic Biz...
This is a true story because it literally happened last night...
Last night I almost died in the bathroom. Okay, that’s being a little dramatic, but I felt like it. But during that moment of shear pain and shiz, I came to a realization with comics and want to share that with you. ALSO. Super Plumber Sisters #1-3 Kickstarter campaign is doing very well!
Make sure you get yourself a copy! All books in the series (and my catalogue) are available!
Okay. Let me tell you about the greatest pork chop horror story ever!
[Warning. This story is both inspirational and gross]
THE GREAT PORK CHOP HORROR
Now. Before I begin this story, I don’t want to entirely blame the pork chop. It could have been the spices from the beans, or just the beans on the plate. It could have been the spicy cornbread. Or maybe it was the pork chop. I don’t know. But regardless, the dinner I had last night through me in a shitting storm of stomach pain, agony, and exhaustion for 4 hours.
At one point I thought, “maybe if I throw up this will help” but my first two gags led to the release of more shit. Anyways. Let’s move on.
During this pain and agony I was think about what I wanted to do with comics. I’m currently finishing SUPER PLUMBER SISTERS #4 despite #3 being on Kickstarter. We’re already ahead! I’m telling myself that if these Kickstarters go well, I can take some personal pay from these projects, since I don’t have to invest in the production of them because #3 and #4 have already been paid for.
It’s a great feeling honestly. So as I lye on the bathroom floor, I pull out a calculator and start doing the math on the take home pay. I’m feeling even better (mentally, not physically). And then I get this idea.
I would have enough money to develop, start, and create another 3-part story with another artist I’ve been wanting to work with!
I start throwing up again.
“Another mini-series? Is the right thing to do? Didn’t you just tell yourself that you needed to slow down in order to have more balance in your life?”
Now I’m in the bathtub trying to un-numb my asshole.
While in the midst of all this, all I could think about the stories that I wanted to make. If I had another opportunity to make another mini-series, which would get to this chance to come to light? Would it be the story of a bunch of heroes who use magic spell cards as ways to battle in their world? Would it be about a man who controls and taxes the criminal in his city in order to protect the citizen of his town and also generate wealth for them? Would it be a silly story about a bunch of lunch ladies who have been thrown in a battle royale to impress one of their old students who had a crush on them? I don’t know! I really don’t.
All I know is this.
I love making comics so freaking much! And I’m realizing that more and more every day.
So right now as I look at the Super Plumber Sisters #1-3 Kickstarter campaign, I’ve given myself some milestones I hope that we hit in order for me to potentially create a new series.
If we can hit the following numbers, everything will be great and dandy:
$7000 - I have all the money needed to print, ship, and re-supply for future campaigns
$10,000 - I’m able to invest in a new 3-part mini-series
$15,000 - I’m able to completely finance it the 3-part mini-series
Who knows what will happen. Ultimately I’m extremely grateful to continue to make comics every day. Because of that horrible (and delicious) pork chop experience, I was able to remind myself that I still have a lot of stories that I want to tell.
But first. Let’s complete what we have right now!
