The Death of Reliability…

It’s no secret that I use the same rotation of artists on most of my projects. WHY? Because they’re reliable.

I’ve worked with Tommy on MY SEXY WITCH ACADEMIA, BULLET ASSASSIN LIVING IN A FANTASY WORLD, and MY CUTE CO-WORKER WANTS TO KILL ME AND THEN MARRY ME. We have plans for more books together.

Same with my relationship with Erwin who drew the entire series of SUPER PLUMBER SISTERS and an unreleased graphic novel of CHEFs. Trevis Martinez did over 300+ pages for our series DEMONS.

These are creators that I can count on.

However, sometimes you have artists who want to work with you, and similarly you want to work with them.

Well. I decided to give 2 creators chances for this upcoming campaign of MY SEXY WITCH ACADEMIA. Literally over the weekend, as I was building the campaign, I was trying to get a hold of them to see the progression on the art that I paid for.

One of them ghosted me.

The other said they weren’t going to make the deadline even though I had given them 45 days in advance.

WTF!?

This put me in such a bind that I started losing my mind over the weekend! What the heck was I going to do? Was I going to have to put the launch on hold? That sucks because I wanted to do this launch in October!

Luckily some amazing artists came in clutch to help me out.

Shoutout to (in order of illustrations) @mesiasart who colored this cover (I added the backgrounds) and @SaiHchiwadak who within 12 hours of being hired for this cover created this beautiful piece of art!

Luckily the artist that ghosted me did get back to me, but they too are still late with their illustration.

Seriously. Is this a good impression? Am I going to want to work with these people in the future?

Heck no!

One of the biggest strengths that a creator can have is being able to be reliable. If this is our first rodeo together and I pay you, I expect the relationship to start off strong.

Tommy and I have worked together for around 3 years at this point. If he’s late with something, it doesn’t matter because he’s earned the points to know that he’s going to come in clutch with the project. We have a good working relationship.

These artists…that relationship is over.

1AM and the Substack Crash…

So last night I made it a point that I was NOT going to go to bed until BLACKJACK DUELIST was fulfilled. So. I stayed up until 1AM to complete it, and then snagged this phone.

THEN I was going to write this Subtack, and as I was about to write THIS SECTION at 1AM, Substack decided to crash which is why you’re getting this newsletter NOW and not in the morning like I normally do.

And for those interested in THE GIRL WITH THE MEGA FISTS series, you’ll be happy to know that I’m working on it and it should be out 2026! Hopefully this is the first book we can launch next year.
