Playing to WIN vs Playing For Peace | We Did It!
Whoa! Bullet Assassin Living in a Fantasy World is now a SERIES!
Whoa! We did it! Today we’re going to talk about playing to WIN vs playing for peace, and the FUTURE of this newsletter. ALSO! BULLET ASSASSIN LIVING IN A FANTASY WORLD is not just funded, but we hit the first stretch goal so now we’re turning it into a SERIES!
Synopsis: Betrayed in the real world, Akari awakens in a fantasy realm armed only with an AR-15 and 30 rounds of ammunition. In her quest for justice, she confronts Gukruk, a Goblin Lord ruling over Arcadia, determined to liberate the oppressed villagers. Akari's strategy involves scavenging for materials to craft additional bullets and utilizing her lethal skills to eliminate the tyrant and bring freedom to Arcadia.
Playing to Win vs Playing For Peace
Life the for the last 6 months has had some of the biggest UPS and the biggest DOWNS, and I’ve learned a lot about life and myself.
One lesson that I’ve learned is this concept of “playing to win vs playing for peace.” For the last 2-3 years in my comics journey, I’ve been playing the comics game like it’s a freaking war. Battle after battle, drama after drama, and I’ve finally just hit my breaking point where I just don’t want to be part of any of this.
How did I learn this? From playing the video game MOUNT & BLADE: WARBAND.
In this game, you start as a peasant, and the goal is to become KING of Caladria. My tactic was to first serve the King of Swadia (King Harlus) and basically be his errand boy bitch, until I was able to rise through the ranks, raise my own army, and marry into a royal house. I then did his bidding my leading my armies for him, and did battle with every other kingdom until I eliminated them off the face of the map.
Battle after battle. My army wasn’t just ruthless, but we were undefeated and FEARED in the game.
And then it got to a point, where it was time for me to make my own path, so I cut my allegiance with King Harlaus of Swadia, and created my own Kingdom and began conquering new lands establishing my own strong hold of the country.
Well. One day I zoomed out on the map and realized just how much territory I had won for King Harlaus (like 90% of the map) and realized that if I wanted to “win the game” I would have to re-conquer those kingdoms, while protecting my own.
And then it dawned on me after one massive battle…I don’t want to fight anymore. I don’t want to play this game LIKE THIS anymore.
You see, in MOUNT AND BLADE, the world is living and breathing in all aspects. Things are constantly changing and happening, and I realized that I just want to play the game my own way. By nurturing the villages that I have, helping my friends that I’ve met, and protecting my kingdom and living in peace. No need for all out annihilation. I want to just have fun.
And that’s how I want to be now in the “comics game.” I don’t want to worry about all of the nonsense and the drama.
You know what I want to do? You know what I’m going to start doing on this newsletter (which I’ve been doing on my Youtube channel these last 3 months):
Talk about the comics that I like
Talk about the manga that I like
Talk about the webtoons that I like
Talk about the things that make me happy that I think will make you happy
It’s time for ME to be more positive. It’s time for ME to do my part in being a positive corner of the community. It’s time for ME to actually start having a SILLY GOOSE TIME.
So!
Let’s have a silly goose time!

“It’s time I start doing what I preach! (Paraphrasing)”
So best of luck to the both of you!!

All the best, and keep working hard Tyler!!
