Hey everyone! Today is going to be an interesting newsletter and I hope you enjoy it. Before we get started, I wanted to thank you for making MY SEXY WITCH ACADEMIA #1-2 Kickstarter a success! We still have 18 days to go but I couldn’t be happier with it honestly.

So for today’s newsletter, I thought I would do a semi-pitch of a story that has been muddling through my brain these past couple of weeks. Anytime this happens, there’s always three choices to make:
Make this story into a one-shot and just cruise through it
Make this story into it’s one mini-series
Just don’t do it…not enough time or money to put into it, you’ll have another idea later down the road.
So. Let’s just get into this and you let me know what you think of the story :P
Maybe there’s a 4th option…who knows…
I Became a Crime Lord In Order To Become the Greatest Comic Book Creator
I had this idea that I would draw myself as the main character, and cast all my comic book friends as various characters in the story. Anyways, here’s a breakdown of the story.
Jason Jones is an aspiring comic book writer/artist who is on his way to San Diego Comic-Con. His goal is to one day write Batman, the most coveted IP to work on. On his way, he picks up his brother Jake who has spent the last 5 years in prison. They attend SDCC where Jason meets his rivals Trey Gibson and Sean Pike. Trey has been getting pitch meetings with various publishers and is moving up the ranks. Sean is closer to Jason’s level. Sean and Jason sign up for a drawing a competition at the con, where the winner will get a chance to do a one-shot for a big IP.
At night, Sean confronts Jason telling him that his father paid off the judges and that he was going to win no matter. In anger a fight ensues causing Sean to accidentally fall, hit his head, and die. Jason calls his brother Jake, who is re-establishing himself with the crime lord he worked for, and asks him to help him hide the body.
Due to Sean being missing, Jason wins the competition and gets to work with the publisher. We also learn that Trey and Jason were childhood friends, and that Jason has had a Batman story written and tells Trey when they’re kids what it is.
Later in the story, Jake needs helping moving some drugs across state-lines and needs Jason’s help, threatening to expose the murder of Sean if Jason doesn’t help. The job is successful, and Jason sees the workings of the underworld. Jason wants to hire a colorist for a pitch to send to a publisher but doesn’t have the money. He asks Jake is he can do a ONE-TIME job selling drugs to make some quick cash. Jason does this and is able to make his comic to pitch. The pitch however fails.
Jason now sees that he can use the drug money in order to fund his comic book work to help him get closer to his goal.
Anyways, as the story goes on, Jason starts working up the ranks of the comic book biz, while also starting a criminal empire of his own. This leads him going down a dark dark path, where he isn’t afraid to eliminate his competition both in the crime world and the comic world.
It gets to a point where Jason is very popular in the comic world, and even writing for some big properties, but not Batman yet. Jason talks to his editor and finds out that Trey is going to be getting the chance for a 5-year Batman run, and when he hears the pitch, it’s the one that he made up when they were kids.
Jason in an emotional rage, botches a hit on Trey. This brings the cops and the feds involved. Jason is given the opportunity to write Batman, and during his run, he is evading the cops and doing everything he can to keep his crime persona and comic persona separate.
At the Eisner Awards, Jason is about to receive an award for his Batman run, when the feds come in and arrest him and take him down.
The end.
That’s just a quick summary. It’s one of those stories that could be told in a 40-page one-shot comic…but also…a story that could easily be told for a very long time with a ton of characters, intricate plots, etc.
GAHH!
But what did you think of it? Good? Stupid? Fun? Let me know in the comments :P
Okay! Thank you everyone who has checked out MY SEXY WITCH ACADEMIA! Y’all rock! Peace.
Tyler
I think a one shot would hurt the story.. it needs some length to it.
But I think as far as dark stories with broken characters with downward arcs and spirals go..
This is an AMAZING concept.
Crime comics are harder to sell for sure, but the comic creator aspects make it really really interesting! Even though crime comics aren’t my thing, I could myself getting this.
So yeah, I look forward to reading your “Broken Creator” story!
Keep it up Tyler, I need more books outside of GwtMF and Super Plumber Sisters to back!
More Action and Male Leads please lol 😂
(Last part is mostly a joke, feel free to make what you want)
Sounds like a cool idea for a series. I think a 1-shot would short-change the story.
