They Destroyed My Creativity! Don't Let This Happen To You!
There are 11 days left to back SUPER PLUMBER SISTERS 1-2 on Kickstarter!
Happy Monday friends! This is going to be a short email and I’m going to use a tweet that I really liked as the content, but I think it’ll be beneficial to you in the long run. 2024 has been a rollercoaster so far and a lot of things are happening on my bingo card that I didn’t expect. From losing friends in the creator comic space to new ideas and opportunities suddenly popping up.
And before we get into all that, just remember there is only 11 more days to back SUPER PLUMBER SISTERS #1-2 on Kickstarter! Erwin is drawing the last 15 pages as we speak!
Motivational Monday For You!
Dear Indie Comic Creators Let 2024 be the year where you're actually INDEPENDENT.
What do I mean?
- Make the comics you want without fear of what your "peers" might say
- Be unique in your marketing strategies. You don't have to do what others do even if it looks like the "norm"
- Have fun and be creative with your content. If you're enjoying it, that's all that matters
- Run your business how you want and be accountable to only you and those who support you
- Build your own community that's reliant on YOU and ONLY you.
Here's an example.
2 years ago I made this video: I Turned Logan Paul Into a Shonen Battle Manga I had a ton of fun with this video and it's one of the best I've ever made.
It was super creative and original, and I had plans to do more I got made fun of so hard after making this by my "peers" I never made any more videos like this, went back to the usual drama videos, etc.
Well. Little did I know that I got a ton of fans and subscribers from THIS video. Even had @MarcelTheLoser tell me that this was the video that he found me on and wished I had done more.
I let my desire to appease my "peers" stunt my creativity due to being embarassed because they thought this was whack. So. I urge you all. Don't let other stifle your creativity.
Have fun. Do your thing.
Tyler :)
I doubt it, but does this mean we might see another one??!!
That’d be awesome! One of my favorite ideas you’ve had.
Anyway keep grinding away Tyler! Doing awesome.
Ps the I found your content at first by watching the “Making comics on your printer at home”
The intro sold me, then I just binged your content! lol
I've been experimenting with copying what I've seen romance fantasy novels on Kickstarter have been doing. Since I'm slowly adding novels to my comic book lineup I figure I try out something that's a bit different from how everyone in comics seem to promote their books.
Fantasy novels seem to heavily prioritize aesthetics in graphic design and authors lean more into talking about their stories rather than do the usual BUY MY BOOK carnival barking comic creators like doing. In fact, I began to notice how many creators actually DON'T talk about their stories, preferring to go straight for the hard sell instead. Is that something you've noticed as well, or is it just me?
