AP BIRTHDAY BASH

I wasn’t planning on going to this event…but when my good friend Tim Lim (Kamen America, Iconic Comics) hits me up and invites me table with him and Mark, and road trip down….

We’re not going to say no.

If you’ve followed me, you’ll know that I am a complete work-a-holic. I love my job, I love marketing, and I love working my ass off and growing businesses. Because of this, I haven’t taken a vacation in like 3-4 years.

This was my first time taking a break…and it was amazing.

It was so awesome to hang out with Kamen America crew of Tim, Mark, and Eric and talk comics and have a silly goose time. The roadtrip was a blast, the shenanigans were illegal, and the AP Birthday Bash was a lot of fun!

The amount of times people came up to me thinking that I was Tim was hilarious.

10 out of 10 trip for sure.

BLACKJACK DUELIST!? THE COMIC WE MADE ON YOUTUBE!?

YES! The comic we made on Youtube!

A few months ago I did a LIVESTREAM where me and the chat worked out the title for this book, the concept, and eventually the character artwork.

I had hired Jose Garcia for another book that never got made, and when he sent me his version of the character RUBY ROSE, I knew we had to do this book!

This Kickstarter is going to be a silly goose time! Besides including my entire catalogue of books (for the most part), we’re also doing a CUSTOMER PLAYING CARD DECK and a DELUXE PENCIL EDITION of the book because Jose’s pencil’s were just too awesome to not show off!

ARE WE STILL FULFILLING COMICS?

Yes! We are still fulfilling. It has been an intense year making comics and fulfilling them as a one-man team. Just this week, I packaged up THE GIRL WITH THE MEGA FISTS Desk Mats (thank you for your patience those who were waiting).

WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT MY BATMAN SERIES…

For the last 10 years, I have attempted 3-4 times to launch my own Batman fan-series. Each time I get maybe 2-3 pages in before I give up.

Why?

I’m never satisfied with the artwork.

With that being said, with every attempt, I see my art continually improving. I picked up basically every Batman Black and White book I could, along with every Batman comic that Jock has done art for.

I then realized that I couldn’t do this alone.

So. While I was in the shower in San Antonio Texas for the AP Birthday Bash (while Mark was watching Family Guy), I texted my good friend and colorist, Ichthy5, to see if he could color in a certain style.

He did some test colors on Jock’s art.

It looked great.

But what would it look like over my art?

So. I did some line art of the Joker from my one-shot comic…and well…here are the results.

Needless to say…I was pumped.

So. I will be slowly working on this one-shot comic that I will make available for FREE to everyone once it is finished. And who knows…maybe we do our own free series in the future…

MY NEW LIFE HAS BEEN…DIFFICULT…

So. What’s this new life?

I’m diving more and more into this marketing role. I’ve created a new personal brand where I teach marketing to certain sector of the world, and it has been challenging.

The goal of this new personal brand is to educate individuals in businesses how to market and make money, by showcasing them case studies that I’m currently doing with clients, with the hope that they eventually decide to use my company’s services to market their own businesses.

This is both tiring and rewarding.

It means that 1-2 nights each week I dedicate to building this personal brand (on top of the 10 hour day I’ve already put in at work).

So. If you’re ever like “where is Tyler? Is he even making comics anymore”

The answer is “yes, I am making comics…” but that means that if I have to choose between marketing myself with an email or livestream, or spend the night actually drawing, then I’m going to choose drawing.
