The Failed Attack On Twitter From Baby Creator...
Final Week for THE GIRL WITH THE MEGA FISTS on Kickstarter
Hey friends! Today we’re going to talk about a failed Twitter attack from a baby creator, a failed comic networking event I attempted to make friends at, and as always, progress on current projects.
Also, this is the FINAL week to snag a Kickstarter copy of THE GIRL WITH THE MEGA FISTS Vol. 1-4. Like I’ve mentioned before, if you’re NEW to the series, we have digital and physical tiers for ONLY VOLUME 1 for newcomers and they’re discounted!

I’ve been watching a lot of anime recently to prepare myself for a 36-page chapter that is strictly just violent-action-awesomeness. Choreographing fights is truly a skill that I’m getting better at.
Okay. Let’s talk about THE WEEK OF FAILS!
Baby Creator Tries Attacking Me On Twitter and Gets Meme’d
Listen, I don’t condone violence, I really don’t. But if you’re gonna play stupid games on the internet, you’re going to get stupid prizes.
Last week when I posted the Tweet about creators making GENERIC stories, I had a lovely back-to-back convo with a creator named Zak who disagreed with my take. Disagreements are totally fine. I love them. It means further and deeper conversation can be had. What I don’t like is when personal insults are thrown and the conversation is derailed and becomes a dick measuring contest. Well, Zak Attack when in on the offensive with this fun tweet where he basically was shocked I could post a piece of artwork with “pride” in comparison to his own manga that he feels sucks. Take a look:
Now keep in mind. This doesn’t offend me. The artist for MY SEXY WITCH ACADEMIA is my friend Tommy and he goes great work and I personally picked him for this book because I liked his style.
What this new baby creator didn’t realize is that trying to promote off attacking another creator’s comic is NOT a good look.
Within the following days, a bunch of people on Twitter critiqued his artwork, him, and began making memes using THIS template.
For Zak, his attempt to promote his comic by attacking others didn’t work. He deleted his tweet, and I hope he remembers to never do this again. With that being said, he insulted MANY people in various Twitter threads related to this Tweet, and I doubt those people will be lining up to be customers for his upcoming book.
Conversation and debate is great. Personal attacks are wrong, and if you attempt to do that, I’ll put you on blast.
I Failed At Making Local Comic Friends…
I tried. I FREAKING TRIED TO MAKE FRIENDS! I drove 45 minutes to a local comic book event where there were like 10 local comic creators chilling and selling books, and all it led to was me feeling awkward and spending $20 on shitty books.
Let me explain.
A couple weeks ago I decided that I need to be more of a participant in my local scene. Keep in mind, I know most people, and have attended a few events over the years, but no one ever invites me. I always have to find them myself.
Well. I reached out to a guy we’ll call BOB, and Bob told me to come to an event where a bunch of other creators would be. He said “I understand what it’s like being a new comic creator, so I’ll make sure to show you around.”
Here’s the thing…I’ve met Bob before three times. Everyone at this event I had met before. I’m not some new hatchling!
When I got to the comic shop where they were all selling (and no one was there), Bob still didn’t recognize me, and I introduced myself like it was our first interaction. He said “Hi,” smiled, and then walked away. The dude who invited me to come to this thing said ONE WORD to me and walked away.
I then go and talk with another creator who goes “Oh hey! Tyler! It’s been awhile! I’ve been watching all of your stuff and your videos helped me find a printer and I was able to do all of these events in Utah!”
I looked at his book. The SAME book he was selling 4 years ago when we met, and the same book I saw him with last year. I looked around at all the others guys I knew who had forgotten me, and realized that they were all selling the SAME STUFF that they were when I met them, and NONE OF THEM remembered me.
I tried talking with every single one of them. I barely got eye-contact from most of these guys, let alone an actual conversation. One guy would answer my question by looking at SOMEONE else.
I left 30 minutes later pissed off and embarrassed. I drove 45 minutes so I can meet with other comic creators (who I already knew) and none of them gave me the time or day to talk with them. NONE OF THEM EVEN PITCHED ME THEIR COMIC TO BUY!
It was such a fail. I was so angry. And now I’m debating how “active” I want to be in my local scene lol
PROGRESS ON CURRENT PROJECTS

Alright everyone, thank you SO MUCH for the support. This is going to be a HECTIC month so make sure you follow along on these newsletters and the Youtube channel.
Also! This is the FINAL WEEK for THE GIRL WITH THE MEGA FISTS Vol. 1-4 Kickstarter. I’ll be doing an email push Friday morning for one last reminder.
Alright! Y’all have a great week! Let me know what you’re up to in the comments! Peace!
Tyler :)
Thanks for keeping it real Tyler! I am nor a comic creator but I am a writer (nothing published... yet) and my attempts to network with other Local Authors and Writers has yielded nothing fruitful yet
"I looked at his book. The SAME book he was selling 4 years ago when we met, and the same book I saw him with last year."
Something about this line made me go -_- . I mean, if the goal is to do a one shot and move on to other things and sell for fun, I kinda get it. But it sounds like those networking wanted more than that. But you'd have to put more than one book every 4 years out.
